The extra payment slider

Drag it and watch the date move.

Try the slider with four sample debts, using snowball order and $820 a month. In the app it runs on your own figures, and you decide whether to make that payment.

What it does

Snowball or avalanche.

Smallest balance first, highest rate first, or your own order. When a debt clears, its minimum rolls on to the next one.

Side by side.

The payoff date and total interest of snowball and avalanche on your own figures, with the difference in plain money.

0% balance transfers.

A promotional rate keeps the date it ends and the rate it becomes. The avalanche order is worked out again each month, so that card only becomes the target once its rate goes back up.

A payment log.

Mark the month's minimums in one tap, or log a payment that differs. Recorded payments update your payoff estimate.

Reminders before a payment is due.

Set each debt's due day and how many days ahead you want to know. A "Reminders not arriving?" screen shows what your phone has switched off.

PDF and spreadsheet.

The plan as a PDF with your debts, the order and the schedule month by month, or the schedule as a CSV file. The PDF is in English.

Worth knowing

Your figures stay on your phone.

There is no sign-in and DebtClimb never connects to a bank. A backup file moves your figures to a new phone.

A planner, nothing else.

It does not offer loans, move money or give financial advice. It never tells you which method to pick.

The balance follows what you did.

Payments come off, and last month's interest is added on the first of each month. Type in a balance from your statement whenever you like and the plan starts again from there.

An estimate, and it says so.

It estimates monthly interest as balance x APR / 12, including promotional rate changes you enter. Other rates and minimums are assumed unchanged. Interest calculations vary by lender, so your statement and your payoff date may differ.

Questions

What is the difference between snowball and avalanche?

Snowball pays the smallest balance first. Avalanche pays the highest interest rate first. DebtClimb shows the payoff date and total interest of each on your own debts and leaves the choice to you.

Does DebtClimb connect to my bank?

No. There is no sign-in and no bank connection. You enter your balances, rates and minimums, and they stay on your phone.

Will the payoff date match my statement?

Not necessarily. DebtClimb estimates monthly interest as balance x APR / 12, including promotional rate changes you enter, and assumes other rates and minimums stay unchanged. Lenders calculate interest in different ways, so your statement and your payoff date may differ. You can type in the balance from your statement at any time.

What does the standard tier include?

Three debts with both methods, your payoff date, reminders, the payment log, CSV and backup, with a small banner on the Debts and Payments screens. There is never a banner on the climb screen.

What happens to my debts if I stop paying for Pro?

Debts you have already entered stay available to view, edit and back up. On the standard tier you can log payments against your three oldest open debts, or record a payment that clears any debt.

Is there a trial?

Yes. An optional 14-day Pro trial starts from inside the app when you choose it.
