WHERE EACH LEARNER IS

Lesson hours, topics and test status

Each learner has a progress tab showing total logged hours and hours by topic, from the cockpit drill to the mock test. Their record also holds the theory and practical test as not yet, booked or passed, with the date. The traffic light on the list is a plain count of hours: green from 25, amber from 10, red below.

  • 25 topics to pick from on every lesson: junctions, roundabouts, dual carriageways, parallel parking, emergency stop, show me tell me, independent driving and the rest
  • Licence types and test names follow the learner's country: Theory and Practical in the UK, the EDT in Ireland, the Theorieprüfung and the Sehtest in Germany, Code and Conduite in France
  • Contact details, address, date of birth, provisional licence number, an emergency contact, a photo and private notes on every learner
  • A learner's hourly rate and currency can differ from your default

The traffic light is a count of hours logged, not a judgement of readiness. You decide when a learner is ready for the test.

Anna Fischer's Progress tab: 12.0 hours total from 12 lessons completed, and hours by topic at one hour each for roundabouts, country roads, motorways, parallel parking, bay parking, pull up on the right, emergency stop, independent driving, mock test, night driving and town driving
A learner's progress: the hours, and where they went.

WHAT IT KEEPS

The lesson, the diary and the package

Log a lesson in the car

Date, start and end with the duration worked out, pickup and drop-off, the topics covered, private instructor notes and the fee. When the lesson is done, rate it from one to five, record the learner's own rating, add completion notes and the miles covered, and mark it complete.

Today, in time order

Today's lessons with the learner, the time, the pickup and the fee, with today's lesson count and the next start time. Scheduled lessons move to done as you complete them.

The calendar

A month and a week view of every scheduled lesson, with the day's lessons listed below it. Schedule a lesson on any day; if it overlaps another, DriveSchool warns you and lets you decide.

Lesson packages that draw down

Set up a package for a learner with a name, the number of lessons, the total hours, the price and its currency, and each lesson you mark complete comes off it. The card shows how much of the package is used.

A reminder before each lesson

A notification on your phone 24 hours and 2 hours before every scheduled lesson, set when you save it and cleared when you cancel it. The reminders are for you; nothing is sent to the learner.

Your country, currency and language

Choose your country at the start and the app takes its test names, licence types and currency. Eleven currencies, from pounds and euros to kronor and zloty, and the app itself in twelve languages.

WHY IT WORKS THIS WAY

Built for the instructor between lessons

Record a lesson between appointments

The lesson form takes the learner, the date and the times and works out the duration. On a learner's card, only the name is required.

The test names are the country's

An instructor in Ireland sees the EDT, one in Germany the Theorieprüfung and the Sehtest, one in France the Code and the Conduite.

Money stays in its currency

Every fee and package carries its own currency, and a learner can be billed in a different one from your default. Nothing is ever added up across currencies.

Learner data lives on your phone

There is no account, no cloud sync and no backup export. Crash reports and usage statistics are sent so problems can be found and fixed.

The standard tier keeps your lessons

After the trial, three learners, the lesson log, the calendar, packages and reminders stay. Pro lifts the learner cap and removes the banner from Today.

QUESTIONS

Before you install it

Does DriveSchool send reminders to my learners?

No. The reminders are notifications on your own phone, 24 hours and 2 hours before each scheduled lesson. Nothing is sent to the learner.

What do the traffic lights mean?

They count the hours a learner has had with you: green from 25 hours, amber from 10, red below that. They are a count, not a verdict on readiness.

Can learners pay through the app?

No. You record lesson fees and set up prepaid lesson packages that draw down as lessons are completed. There are no card payments and no invoices.

Which countries does it cover?

The UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, each with its own test names, licence types and currency.

What happens when the 14 days are up?

You keep three learners, every lesson you logged, the calendar, packages and reminders, and a banner appears on the Today screen. Pro lifts the learner cap and removes the banner.

Where is my learners' data kept?

On your phone. There is no account, no cloud sync and no backup export. Crash reports and usage statistics are sent so faults can be fixed.

Keep your learners, lessons and calendar on your Android phone
