The diary card

The day, as one picture for home.

At pick-up, MinderDay turns what you logged into a card: arrival and departure times, what they ate, how long they slept, what you did, a photo or two and your note. Send it by WhatsApp, text or email. Parents install nothing, and a copy stays on the child's record.

What it does

The day on one screen.

The children due today, from their usual days and hours. Tap Arrived and the time goes in the register. Allergies stay in view on the child's card.

Log meals, naps and nappies.

Log them for one child, or for everyone here at once. Add what they did, how they were, and a photo or two.

Check who may collect, and the password word.

The list of who may collect, with the password word the parent set. Anything the parent still has to sign comes up before the child goes home.

Accident and incident forms.

You and the parent sign on the screen. Once both have signed, the form locks. A correction goes underneath as a dated note, and the signed record stays as it was.

Medicine records.

A parent signs consent for each medicine. Each dose is recorded with the time and who gave it, and the parent signs to say they were told. MinderDay gives no advice on medicines or doses.

Invoices from the register.

Hours at your rate, funded hours on their own line as you recorded them, extras, and what has been paid. Share it as a PDF.

Worth knowing

Children's records are stored on your phone.

You choose what to share and where to save backups. There is no account or parent portal. Turn on the app lock to protect access with your phone's PIN or biometrics. Google services are used for crash reporting and usage statistics, which do not include what you write in your records.

One backup file, and you keep it.

An encrypted file with a passphrase you choose, restored on any phone. A lost passphrase cannot be recovered, and if you lose your phone that file is the only other copy.

It stores records. It does not assess them.

MinderDay stores the records you enter. It does not assess whether they meet your regulator's requirements. The help screen links to your regulator's own guidance.

No learning journeys.

There are no development observations in MinderDay, on purpose. Many childminders keep those in another app and would use this alongside it.

Questions

Do parents have to install anything?

No. A diary card is a picture you send from your phone's share sheet, by WhatsApp, text or email, or however you already talk to them. A copy stays on the child's record.

Where are the records kept?

On your phone. MinderDay has no account and no server, so we have no copy and cannot read them. To move them or keep a safe copy, make an encrypted backup file with your own passphrase.

Is it approved by a regulator?

No. MinderDay holds the records you write. It does not check them against any regulator's requirements, and what you must keep is set by your regulator. The help screen links to their own pages.

Can it replace my learning journey app?

No. There are no learning and development observations in MinderDay. It covers the daily record, the forms and the invoices.

How does it handle funded hours?

You type the funded hours a week as you have them recorded. Each week they come off the earliest hours attended, and they print on their own invoice line at no charge. You can change the month's figure on the invoice. MinderDay does not claim funding from your local authority.

What happens if a child leaves?

Mark them as left and they come off Today. Their records stay readable and printable. On the standard plan a child who has left still counts towards the three places.

What does the standard plan include?

Three children, with the register, diary cards, forms, medicine records, reminders and backup. Cards carry a small "sent with MinderDay" line. Forms, medicine records and everything you have written are never locked on any plan.

Start with one child.

Add their usual days, and they will appear on the Today screen on those days.
