BarberMirror Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
1. Introduction
ClearStack Apps ("we", "us", "our") operates the BarberMirror mobile application. BarberMirror shows you a haircut or beard on your own face, so you can see it before you sit in the chair and show the result to your barber. This policy explains what the app keeps on your phone, what it sends to our server, and how to delete it.
2. Your Selfie
To make a render, the app sends your selfie to our server, which passes it to an image model and sends the finished picture back.
- The upload: your selfie is uploaded for one render at a time. Our server deletes it as soon as that render finishes, whether it worked or not. An hourly check deletes any upload older than one hour, in case a render was cut off.
- The finished render: it is stored on our server only until your phone downloads it. The app then tells the server to delete it. If that message never arrives, the hourly check deletes renders older than 24 hours.
- No training: nothing you upload is used to train an AI model, by us or by the model provider.
3. The Image Model
Renders are made by Google's Gemini image model on Google Cloud Vertex AI, called by our own server. Google processes the photo to make the render and does not use it to train its models. Before a render, the model is also asked to confirm that the photo shows exactly one adult face, so the app is not used on children or group photos. Every render carries a small "AI-generated" label in its file details.
4. What Stays on Your Phone
Your selfies, renders, favourites and face shape stay in the app's own storage. Uninstalling the app deletes them. Barber cards you save go to your photo gallery, where you control them.
5. Your Account
There is no sign-up. On first launch the app creates an anonymous account with Firebase Authentication, so our server can keep your balance. For each install we keep:
- your balance: credits, free renders used, and whether a plan is active
- a list of your renders: the style, colour, date and whether it worked, never the picture
- if you make a transfer code to move to a new phone, that code, for up to 7 days
6. Purchases
Purchases are handled by Google Play. When you buy, the app sends the purchase token to our server so it can confirm the purchase with Google and add your renders. We keep a record of each purchase so it is counted once. We never see or store your card details.
7. Reports
If you report a render, we keep the style, the reason you picked and any note you write. The picture itself is not uploaded again.
8. Crash Reports and Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC): crash reports, stack traces, device model, operating system and app version, so we can find and fix bugs.
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC): basic usage events such as app opens and screen views. BarberMirror shows no ads and does not collect the advertising ID.
9. Who Else Handles Your Data
- Google LLC: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Vertex AI, Crashlytics, Analytics and Google Play Billing. Firebase privacy information.
We do not sell your data, rent it, or use it for advertising.
10. Exporting and Deleting Your Data
- Export: open Settings, then Export my data. You get a file with everything our server holds about your install.
- Delete in the app: open Settings, then Delete my data. This removes your selfies and renders from the phone, and your balance, render list and any files from our server, then signs the install out.
- Delete by email: write to support@clearstackapps.com and ask for your data to be deleted. We delete it within 30 days and reply to confirm.
Purchase records are kept without your install id, so a purchase cannot be counted twice. Crash and analytics data follow Google's retention periods.
11. Permissions
- Photos and camera: you pick a selfie from your gallery or take one with the phone's camera app. The app sees only the photo you choose.
- Internet: renders, purchases and crash reports.
12. Whose Face
BarberMirror is for trying styles on your own face, so use a photo of yourself. The app refuses photos of children and group photos.
13. Children
BarberMirror is made for adults and is not directed at children under 18.
14. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and similar laws you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and object to how it is used. Email us at the address below. You can also complain to the UK ICO or your local data protection authority.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
