DreamTrail Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

ClearStack Apps ("we", "us", "our") operates the DreamTrail mobile application. DreamTrail is a dream journal. This policy explains what the app keeps on your phone, the little it sends to our server, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

2. Your Dreams Stay on Your Phone

Everything you write or say about a dream is stored on your phone only: the words, the title, the symbols you tap, the people and places, your mood and vividness, and your notes about the night before. None of it is uploaded to keep it, and there is no cloud copy. If you make a backup, it is a file you save wherever you choose.

3. Your Voice

When you hold the moon to talk, your phone's own speech service (on most Android phones, Google's) turns your voice into text. DreamTrail receives only the text, keeps it on the phone, and never records, stores or sends the sound. You can always type instead.

4. Reflections

A reflection is optional and written only when you ask for one. To write it, the app sends our server:

  • the symbols you tapped on that dream (for example "train" or "water")
  • your mood and vividness ratings, and whether the dream was lucid or recurring
  • your app language

The words of your dream, its title, the people and places are never sent. Our server writes the reflection with Google's Gemini model on Google Cloud Vertex AI, working from fixed notes we wrote for each symbol. Google Cloud does not use this data to train its models. We keep each reflection with the symbols it was written from, so a reflection you report can be checked, until you remove it or delete everything.

5. Your Account

There is no sign-up. The app creates an anonymous account with Firebase Authentication, with no name, email or password. For each install our server keeps how many reflections you have used this month and today, your plan or trial, and the reflections described above.

6. Purchases

Plans are bought through Google Play. When you buy, the app sends the purchase token to our server so it can confirm the purchase with Google and attach the plan to your install. We keep a record of each purchase so it can be restored after a reinstall. We never see or store your card details.

7. Reports

If you report a reflection, we keep the report: the reason you picked, any note you add, and the reflection's text and symbols, so the notes it was written from can be fixed. Reports are deleted with the rest of your data.

8. Crash Reports and Analytics

  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC): crash reports, stack traces, device model, operating system and app version, so we can find and fix bugs.
  • Firebase Analytics (Google LLC): basic usage events such as app opens and screen views. DreamTrail shows no ads and does not collect the advertising ID.

9. Who Else Handles Your Data

  • Google LLC: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Vertex AI, Crashlytics, Analytics and Google Play Billing. Firebase privacy information.

We do not sell your data, rent it, or use it for advertising.

10. Deleting Your Data

  • One reflection: open the dream and tap Remove on its reflection. It is deleted from the phone and from our server.
  • Everything: open Settings, then Delete everything. This removes every dream from the phone and every reflection, report and plan record from our server, and deletes the account.
  • By email: write to support@clearstackapps.com and ask for your data to be deleted. We delete it within 30 days and reply to confirm.

You can see what our server holds about your install at any time in Settings, under Data on the server. A plan you bought stays with your Google Play account and can be restored after you delete your data. Crash and analytics data follow Google's retention periods.

11. Permissions

  • Microphone: only while you hold the moon to talk.
  • Notifications: for the morning reminder and the optional bedtime note. You can turn them off at any time.
  • Alarms: so the morning reminder arrives on time, and again after the phone restarts.
  • Internet: reflections, purchases and crash reports.

12. Not Advice

Reflections describe what dream symbols are commonly said to stand for. They are not predictions, and not medical or psychological advice.

13. Children

DreamTrail is made for adults and is not directed at children under 18.

14. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, EU GDPR and similar laws you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, and object to how it is used. Email us at the address below. You can also complain to the UK ICO or your local data protection authority.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version.
