MoodPulse Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 24, 2026
1. Introduction
ClearStack Apps ("we", "us", "our") operates the MoodPulse mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use MoodPulse. MoodPulse is a private mood and anxiety tracker with CBT thought records, feared-outcome tracking, grounding tools, and trend charts.
Short version: Your mood entries, thought records, photos, and worry records stay on your device — they are never uploaded to our servers. Anonymous crash reports and ad data are sent to Google so we can fix bugs and run ads on the free tier. You can disable that data sharing in Settings under Privacy Mode.
2. Information We Collect
2a. Information You Enter — Stored On Your Device Only
The following remains on your phone and is never transmitted to ClearStack Apps:
- Mood entries (valence and arousal selection, feeling word, anxiety type tag, optional note, optional photo)
- Trigger tags and any custom triggers you create
- CBT thought records (situation, automatic thought, evidence for, evidence against, balanced thought, before/after emotion ratings)
- Feared-outcome entries (worry text, check-back date, outcome, outcome notes)
- HALT reflections (Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired)
- Settings (reminder cadence and time, theme, language, Privacy Mode toggle)
- Photos you attach to mood entries (path-on-device only — the photo itself stays in your device storage)
2b. Automatically Collected — Sent To Google
By default, these SDKs run inside MoodPulse and send anonymised data to Google LLC. You can turn them all off in Settings → Privacy Mode.
- Firebase Crashlytics: Crash logs, stack traces, device model, OS version, and app version. Used to identify and fix bugs.
- Firebase Analytics: Anonymous app interactions (screen views, feature usage events), device model, OS, app version, approximate location derived from IP. Used to understand how the app is used.
- Google AdMob (free tier only): Advertising ID, device model, OS, approximate location, ad interaction events. Used to serve banner and occasional interstitial ads. Pro subscribers and lifetime purchasers see no ads and AdMob is not initialised for them.
2c. Purchase Information
Subscription and lifetime purchase status is verified by Google Play Billing. MoodPulse stores only the active SKU identifier (e.g. moodpulse_sub_monthly, moodpulse_sub_yearly, moodpulse_lifetime) and expiry date locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details.
3. Privacy Mode
Settings → Privacy Mode disables Crashlytics and Analytics entirely. AdMob continues to serve ads on the free tier (it cannot be turned off while you're on the free tier — to remove AdMob entirely, upgrade to any Pro tier). When Privacy Mode is on, MoodPulse becomes a fully offline, no-telemetry app — no data leaves your device.
4. Data We Do Not Collect
To be explicit, MoodPulse does not collect or transmit:
- Your mood entries, mood photos, thought records, or worry records (these stay 100% on your device)
- Personally identifiable information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Health records or medical history
- Financial information
- Precise location data
- Contacts, calendar, messages, files, or other media
- Voice or audio data
5. Data Retention
Mood entries, thought records, and worry records remain on your device indefinitely or until you delete them. There is no automatic deletion.
Anonymous Crashlytics and Analytics data retained by Google according to Firebase's data retention policy. Advertising ID data retained by AdMob per Google's Privacy Policy.
6. How to Delete Your Data
6a. Delete All In-App Data
Open MoodPulse → Settings → Erase all data. This permanently deletes every mood entry, thought record, worry record, photo path reference, HALT log, and trial state from your device. This cannot be undone.
6b. Delete the App Entirely
Uninstalling MoodPulse removes all on-device data. Because nothing is on our servers, uninstalling effectively wipes everything.
6c. Delete Telemetry Data Held by Google
To delete Crashlytics, Analytics, and Advertising ID data already sent to Google, follow Google's data deletion process. ClearStack Apps cannot delete Google-held data on your behalf — it must be requested by you through your Google Account.
6d. Request Account-Level Deletion
MoodPulse does not have user accounts, so there is no server-side account to delete. If you need confirmation that no data exists for your device on our servers, email support@clearstackapps.com.
7. Children's Privacy
MoodPulse is rated for users 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a child has used MoodPulse, contact support@clearstackapps.com.
8. Not a Medical Device
MoodPulse is a self-tracking journal. It does not diagnose, treat, prevent, or cure any medical or mental-health condition. It is not a substitute for professional mental-health care. If you are in crisis, contact your local helpline — there is a quick link to crisis resources on every screen and in onboarding.
9. Third Parties
- Google LLC — Firebase (Crashlytics, Analytics) and AdMob. Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Play Billing — Subscription and lifetime purchase processing. Google Payments Privacy Notice.
10. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA / UK GDPR)
If you reside in the EU, UK, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you. For MoodPulse, the answer is: none on our servers. Crashlytics and Analytics hold anonymous device-level data per Google's policies.
- Rectify inaccurate data — same caveat; nothing to rectify on our end.
- Delete your data — see Section 6.
- Object to processing — toggle Privacy Mode in Settings.
- Portability — export your mood log as PDF via Settings → Export PDF (Pro feature).
- Withdraw consent — toggle Privacy Mode and/or uninstall the app.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced in app release notes.
