TurnSnap — Liability Scope
Last updated: May 19, 2026
What TurnSnap is. A tool that records what you photograph during a short-let turnover, with a timestamp and an approximate GPS pin. The output is a branded PDF / JPEG strip you can share with your host.
What TurnSnap does NOT do
- Does not certify property condition. The photographs reflect what was visible to the camera; they are not a chartered inspection.
- Does not determine cleanliness or tenancy disputes. If a host and a tenant disagree, the parties (or their deposit-protection scheme) decide. TurnSnap reports may be useful evidence; they are not adjudication.
- Does not preserve cryptographic chain-of-custody. The append-only event log inside the app is client-tier tamper-evident: a determined attacker with device access can rewrite history before our server sync. It is not a forensic chain.
- Does not substitute for a regulated inventory clerk. Inventory clerks in the UK are regulated by AIIC or APIP; that's a different role with different evidentiary weight.
- Does not provide surveyor-grade GPS. The GPS coordinate is the device's reading at the moment of capture; typical mobile accuracy is 5–30 metres.
- Does not validate payment URLs. The Default Payment URL you paste in Settings is embedded as-is in your reports. You are responsible for ensuring the URL is correct and goes to your own payment provider.
What TurnSnap DOES do
- Captures before/after photographs with timestamp and approximate GPS.
- Produces a branded PDF + JPEG strip a host can read.
- Embeds your chosen payment link so the host can pay you same-day.
- Maintains an append-only event log of every photo addition / deletion / status change, hashed on your device.
- (If you enable cloud backup) syncs the above to Cloud Firestore + Cloud Storage in europe-west2 (London).
In short: TurnSnap reduces dispute risk; it does not remove it.
Useful resources for cleaners and hosts
- Airbnb AirCover for Hosts — Airbnb's host damage protection. Photo evidence with timestamps strengthens AirCover claims.
- UKHospitality — UK short-let trade body.
- PASC (Professional Association of Self-Caterers) — trade association for self-catering operators.
- UK Tenancy Deposit Protection — relevant if you also do end-of-tenancy work.
Liability summary
By using TurnSnap you accept that the application is a record-keeping tool. ClearStack Apps is not liable for any business decision made on the basis of a TurnSnap report, nor for any payment processed via a third-party URL you have embedded in a report. Disputes between you and your customer or host are between the two of you (or your respective protection schemes); TurnSnap may serve as supporting evidence.
